Thymidine (dT) is a pyrimidine deoxyriboside (deoxynucleoside) that upon sequential phosphorylation to deoxythymidine triphospate (dTTP) is used to synthesize DNA and the T-loop of transfer RNA. It is a potent thymidine kinase (EC 2.7.1.21) substrate (IC50 = 16 nM).
